It's that time of year again, when a new series of minifigures comes out. This is one of my favorite Lego themes. I love the freedom that it gives to the creative team over their to make cool minifigures and accessories that couldn't justify their own set or theme, although many pieces do eventually make it into regular sets. I was pretty excited to see the Disney ones at Walmart the other day, especially because Series 15 was impossible for me to find anywhere. There was one problem though, I didn't do my homework. On my first trip, I didn't realize that the above minifigures had all the pieces that they do. I was feeling through the bags and came across what felt like Donald's hat, but I didn't think that it was its own piece. I also didn't realize that the two ducks have the tail piece. A problem came when I mistook a bow in a Minnie for a Daisy, so I got two Minnies. I had to go back to get Daisy on a second trip. Although I'm not a huge Disney fan, I do really like this series. There are some nice faces that look enough like the character, but are still generic enough to have other uses. Since I'm mostly into these for their brickfilming potential, I really appreciate this. Though there is a lack of accessories, which made them very difficult to feel out, the prints all made up for it. I think all the minifigures look better in person than they do on the internet. Because I like Pixar movies infinitely more than the standard Disney ones, it wasn't hard for me to decide my favorites Despite my love of Pixar, I don't understand why they included Buzz and the Alien in this series. I think that two from Inside Out would have been better, and more current. Plus, Lego did a whole Toy Story line a few years back for the third one, and this new Buzz just has a new head and the Alien just has new two toned legs. They are otherwise identical to their previous incarnations. Most series seem to have their duds like this, so I guess I just now have two toned mini legs and a new head.
Well the picture quality from my dorm room isn't great, but that should change as I am going home next week. Although I am working and all that this summer, I really hope to actually get back to animating. Who knows, maybe I'll even finish that western I started on 3 years ago.
